About

As a senior at McKinley High School, I joined The Pinion during my freshman year, nervous and unsure of my ability to talk to others. My roles have jumped from reporter, assistant editor, and now the Editor-in-Chief in The Pinion, a role that my 9th-grade self would have never believed of taking on.

While being the Editor-in-Chief, I help with a variety of different things within The Pinion. From running our pitch sessions and editing articles, to designing the layout of the print paper and managing the website. While The Pinion reports ethically, I also see it as a place where students can find their voices while also giving voices to those whom may not have one.

Returning to The Pinion each year has taught me how to find my own voice, give others a voice and lead a team of talented reporters. In past competitions, we placed 4th place in Best Publication in the State in 2025. I was also voted the most valuable staffer within my class. I have also received 1st place for Illustration and poster and 3rd place for Review, Action Photo, Candid Photo and Layout/Design.
